SEATS, ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS AND BASIS OF ADMISSION

COURSE:

As had already been introduced by the Dept. of Computer Science, HPU Shimla, Govt. P.G. College Dharamshala has also started BCA course from the academic session 2010-2011. BCA is the three year Degree Course with annual system of examination. The total number of seats in BCA course is 40. The distribution of Seats is as under:

ELIGIBLITY CONDITIONS:

(a) Plus two Exam in any discipline under 10+2 system or any other examination equivalent thereto, of Board/University established by law in India with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates).

(b) Any examination of a Board/University/College/School in a foreign country recognized as equivalent for the purpose of eligibility as laid down by the Vice Chancellor/Equivalence Committee or on the recommendation of Association of Indian Universities. AIU House, 16 Kotla Marg New Delhi-i 10002, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates).

AGE LIMIT:

Except for NRI’s/NRI sponsored / Foreign candidates, the maximum age limit for admission to BCA programme is 23 years as on 1st July of the Admission year concerned. However, in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, the upper age limit will be relaxable by three years. The Vice Chancellor has the power to permit age relaxation for reasons to be recorded in writing, up to maximum period of three months.

BASIS OF ADMISSION:

SCHEME - I  (SUBSIDIZED SEATS )

There shall be entrance examination admission test for candidates seeking admission to BCA course. The Selection process comprises of two stages viz. Written Test of 70 marks and Academic Weightage of 30 marks. The Merit will be drawn out of 100 marks.

The Written test contains question on Quantitative aptitude, General English and General Knowledge having weightage of 30, 20 and 20 marks respectively. The Academic weightage of 30 marks spreads as under:-

10% of marks percentage of marks obtained in matriculation exam and 20% of marks percentage obtained in +2  examination.

SCHEME - II (NON-SUBSIDIZED SEATS )

This scheme admits students as per the merit in entrance examination after filling seats in subsidized category. Top 10 candidates in BCA self financing programme shall be admitted. The candidate seeking admission under payment non-subsidised category must submit his/her application on a plain paper with the Co-ordinator BCA within three days after the display of 1st Merit list for subsidized seats.

 

In addition to the eligibility conditions mentioned above (under Scheme I), NRIs/ NRI Sponsored/Foreign nationals shall be required to submit along with the application form, any one of the following documents as may be applicable for category of their candidature.

A. Proof of Nationality in case of Foreign Nationals.

B. Proof of their status in the case of N R I’s. For this purpose, either of the following documents shall be considered as a proof.

·         Copy of Non resident card/Employment card issued by the employer.

·         Photocopy of the immigration card/employment VISA entry on the passport along with details of the passport.

·         Certificate issued by the Indian Embassy/High Commission in the country where NRI is residing.

C. Certificate of sponsorship from NRI in the case of a sponsored candidate, along with proof of NRI status of the sponsorer required under para (B).

D. Photocopy of the latest assessment order of the Income-tax authorities in India and the Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the sponsorer issued by the Income Tax Department.

General Aptitude Mathematics (+2 level)

NOTE:
Rechecking/Re-evaluation of answer books of the entrance test will not be allowed.

RESERVATION:
Admission to the course except for the seats reserved for NRls/NRI sponsored candidates shall be subjected to the following conditions:

  1. 15% and 7.5% seats shall be reserved for schedule caste and schedule tribe candidates respectively who have passed their BA/B.Sc./B.Com. or any other equivalent degree from any recognized university.

  2. The remaining 77.5% seats shall be filled as under:

(i) 25% of the seats for admission shall be open for all the candidates irrespective of the institution from where they have passed their qualifying examination.

(ii) 75% of the seats shall be filled out of the candidates who have passed their graduation degree from Himachal Pradesh University subjected to the following reservations:

(a) 5% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding sportsmen/women. (b). 5% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding cultural activists.
(c) 3% of the seats shall be reserved for physically handicapped candidates.

The H.P. University 120 point roaster for admission showing reservations of various categories shall be followed.

1. PTA fund will be charged @ 150 per student at the time of admission from BCA & PGDCA students.

2. If name of a student is struck off, the 1St readmission fee is 100/- and if the name of the student is struck off for the 2nd time then read mission fee is 100/-

SCHEME -II

ANNUAL FEE SCHEDULE FOR NON-SUBSIDIZED CATEGORY

Candidates granted admission under self-financing scheme shall be required to pay annual consolidated fee of US$ 600/-(Six Hundred US$ or equivalent in Indian Rupees) in case of Foreign Nationals or NRI’s and Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees twenty five thousand only) in case of NRI Sponsored/payment categories candidates. These dues have to be deposited at the time of admission in the First, Second and Third Year of BCA course. It will not cover Boarding, Lodging, Medical, Travel and other Expenses.

1. Fee once Deposited shall not be refunded.

2. The student admitted to the faculty of BCAIPGDCA will be governed by the rules & regulations contained in the Prospectus 2010-11 of Govt. P.G. CollegeDharamshala (H.P.) Application form duly filled in and accompanying the following documents should be submitted to

Attested copies of the certificates of Matriculation or its equivalent examination and Plus Two (10+2) or its equivalent examination with the conversion formula of grade into percentage wherever applicable with relevant testimonials.

(ii) Proof of the Date of Birth (if not given in the Matriculation Certificate, Attested Photocopies of supporting documents)

The detailed course outline for PGDCA is given below which is subjected to any change by the Board of Studies approved by Academic Council and Executive Council of Himachal Pradesh University.

B. In case of NRI’sJNRl sponsored candidates & the Foreign Nationals the following additional documents are also required.

(i) Proof of Nationality in the case of Foreign Nationals.
(ii) Sponsorship documents in case of NRI/NRI sponsored candidates.
(iii) Proof of their status in case of NRI’s. For this purpose either of the following shall be considered as a proper proof:

  1. Copy of the Non resident Card/Employment card issued by the employer.

  2. Photocopy of the immigration card/employment Visa, entry on the passport along with details of the Passport.

  3. Certificate issued by the Indian Embassy tHigh Commission.

  4. Photocopy of the latest assessment order of Income Tax Authorities either in India of the country of employment filled in the status of NRI.

iv) Certificate of sponsorship from an NRI in case of a sponsored candidate along with proof of NRI status of the sponsorship as require above.

C. Two self addressed envelops of size 28x13 cms. Bearing stamps for Rs. 5/- or in the case of Foreign Addressee stamps of required amount should be affixed by applicant.

Admission to the course except for seats reserved for NRI’s/NRI sponsored and Foreign students shall be subject to the following conditions:

RESERVATION OF SEATS

  1. 15% and 7.5% seats shall be reserved for schedule caste/schedule tribe candidates respectively, who have passed their qualifying examination from H.P.Board of School Education or any other school affiliated to CBSC, ICSC etc. within territorial jurisdiction of HP.

  2. 5% of the Seats shall be reserved for outstanding sports persons.

  3. 5% of the Seats shall be reserved for outstanding Cultural Activists.

  4. 3% of the Seats shall be reserved for physically handicapped candidates.

The minimum eligibility condition for admission to the course in case of SC/ST will be relaxable by 5% lower than the eligibility condition for General Categories.

Note: The roster of admission showing reservation of various categories shall be used as per rules of H.P. University and is applicable to subsidized seats only.

SUMMER DRESS CODE - Light Blue Plain Shirt Black Trouser and Black Leather Shoes with Navy Blue Neck Tie for BCA Students / Navy Blue Striped with Maroon base Neck Tie for PGDCA Students.

WINTER DRESS CODE - Navy Blue Sweater and Blazer Coat shall be the dress Code during the winters for both BCA & PGDCA students.
